Prayagraj is the natural treatment centre for a wide belt of patients: Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Bhadohi and Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, and Rewa, Satna and Sidhi across the border in Madhya Pradesh. Yet many families still travel for days to big metros for cancer care. ZenHeal Cancer Hospital Prayagraj aims to make complete, coordinated cancer treatment available in the city.

This article explains the services, the doctors, payment options including Ayushman Bharat, how costs are worked out and practical travel advice for patients from nearby districts.

Services at ZenHeal Prayagraj

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is planned according to cancer type and stage. Many cycles are given in day care, planned by oncologist Dr Mohommad Aqueel. Blood tests before each cycle, anti-nausea medicines and nutrition advice help manage side effects.

Cancer surgery

Surgical removal of tumours, with lymph node removal where needed, is central to treating many solid cancers. Surgery is coordinated with chemotherapy so that the sequence of treatment is right for the patient.

Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy is available at ZenHeal Cancer Hospital in Prayagraj, planned by our radiation oncologist. It is also available at ZenHeal Cancer Hospital in Varanasi. Sessions may follow surgery, run with chemotherapy, or be the main treatment when the oncologist advises that.

Bone marrow transplant (BMT)

BMT may be advised for certain blood cancers such as some leukaemias, lymphomas and multiple myeloma. Eligibility is assessed case by case.

PET-CT scan

PET-CT helps with staging, treatment planning and assessing response. Getting it done in the same hospital avoids extra trips and delays.

24x7 ICU and palliative care

A round-the-clock ICU supports patients with infections, complications or post-surgical needs. Palliative care helps with pain, breathlessness, appetite and emotional support, at any stage.

Free OPD with cancer specialists

OPD consultation with a cancer specialist at ZenHeal Prayagraj is free. Dr Mohommad Aqueel (radiation oncologist and chemotherapist) and the surgical oncology team see patients in OPD. Call +91 99307 09000 for a same-day appointment. A video consultation from home costs ₹1,000.

Radiotherapy is available at both ZenHeal hospitals. The Prayagraj and Varanasi teams share reports so care stays connected across both campuses.

Bring: biopsy/histopathology report, IHC report if available, CT/MRI/PET-CT reports and CDs, blood tests, previous treatment records and ID.

Ayushman Bharat and cashless insurance

ZenHeal Prayagraj accepts Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY) and supports cashless treatment under insurance.

  • The Ayushman team checks your card and decides the package for each treatment.
  • For private insurance or TPA policies, bring the card and policy number. The team helps with pre-authorisation.

Approval depends on the scheme, the package and documentation. Call before you travel to confirm.

Treatment cost in Prayagraj

The cost of cancer treatment depends on the type and stage of cancer and the treatment the doctor recommends, so we do not quote fixed prices before the doctor has seen your reports. After your OPD consultation, the doctor explains your treatment plan and our patient counsellor guides you through pricing step by step. As a cancer-specific hospital, we keep treatment affordable so that everyone can access it, and our NGO supports needy patients so they can complete their treatment.

OPD fees are simple: an in-person OPD consultation is free, and a video consultation costs ₹1,000.

Send your reports on WhatsApp (+91 98803 78899) for an estimate tailored to your treatment plan.

Cancers commonly seen in the Prayagraj region

Doctors across eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Vindhya region of Madhya Pradesh see a high number of mouth and throat cancers, linked strongly with tobacco, gutkha and paan use. Cervical cancer and breast cancer are the most common cancers among women, and gall bladder cancer is notably frequent in the Gangetic belt. Lung, oesophageal and blood cancers are also seen regularly.

Many of these cancers are found late because early symptoms are ignored. Seek a check-up without delay if you notice:

  • A mouth ulcer, white or red patch that has not healed in two to three weeks
  • A lump in the breast or armpit, or change in breast shape or skin
  • Bleeding after intercourse, between periods or after menopause
  • Difficulty swallowing, persistent hoarseness or a cough lasting more than three weeks
  • Unexplained weight loss, persistent fever or yellowing of the eyes

These symptoms can have many causes, and most are not cancer. But only proper tests can tell, and earlier diagnosis usually means more treatment options.

How families can help during treatment

Cancer treatment is a team effort that includes the family. Keep all reports in one folder in date order. Note down questions before each consultation. Help the patient eat small, frequent, protein-rich meals. Watch for warning signs during chemotherapy, such as fever above 100°F, bleeding or severe vomiting, and call the hospital at once. Finally, look after the caregiver too: long treatments are tiring, and sharing duties between family members helps.

Steps on your first visit

  1. Registration with ID and Ayushman/insurance documents
  2. Consultation and review of reports
  3. Additional tests if required (blood, PET-CT, biopsy review)
  4. Written treatment plan and schedule
  5. Financial counselling and approvals

A realistic word about results

Cancer outcomes depend on the type, stage, biology of the tumour and the patient's overall health. No one can honestly make promises of a sure cure, and you should be careful of anyone who does. The aim at ZenHeal is to start the right treatment without delay, explain the plan honestly and support the family throughout.

Second opinions are welcome

If you have already started treatment elsewhere, or have been given a plan and want to understand it better, you are welcome to bring your reports for a second opinion. Seeking another view is a normal and sensible part of cancer care, and a good team will never discourage it. Share your reports on WhatsApp first so the doctor can review them before you travel, which saves time and avoids an unnecessary trip for families coming from other districts.
